We were left with out help for over 2 hours and missed available flights to the USA and were then put on an Condor flight with NO service, charged 100 euros for a bag already checked but then never arrived in PDX and I am told it will arrive in 2 days at the air port but they can not say when I will see it at my home. Our 14 hour trip lasted more than 27 hours of total frustration."

Punti positivi: "Alitalia gets a bad rap, but I thought this flight was excellent, and a comfortably way to travel the 13 hour flight from Rome to Los Angeles. Cabins recently refurbished on 777 thanks to Etihad Airways investment. Food, and plenty of it, was excellent. Wide selection of wines. Choice between freshly made American coffee or Espresso (from Lavazza). Lie flat seats are way more comfortable than KLM. Esoteric selection of documentaries and Italian movies. Leather seats and color scheme is elegant. Also, business class lounge (Alitalia House) at Rome Fiumincino serves delicious freshly cut Italian cold cuts, cheeses, pastrries, and has an actual barista vs a machine. You don't get the sense that they are cutting corners, which is probably why the airline keeps losing money, but that is to the benefit of the traveler (for now). Service friendly. For nonstop to this part of Europe, or for connections to Southern Europe, it may be my number one Skyteam choice."

This was not indicated anywhere, though, so make sure you ask or look for it if there is a long line at check in. Then, the gate is very, very far. Not sure why they had me check in at Terminal 1 as the gate is in Terminal 3. Make sure to allow for plenty of time, and maybe see if it's possible to check in at Terminal 3, which may well save time. But for a 14-hour flight in total comfort, the trade off was worth it."

We got though security ok and got into the line for Gate 12. It was more like a scrum tan a line. Nobod seemed to be doing anything when all at once we saw people boarding. We went to the gate but were told that our flight was boarding at Gate 10!!! WTF??? Gate 12 listed our flight number and Gate 10 listed another flight, but we did as were told and boarded via Gate 10. None of other passengers knew what the hell was going on but we all made it to Rome along with our baggage. We will NEVER fly Alitalia again."

I had requested wheelchair assistance (I'm 80 years old with back problems), but there was none available."

Understaffed and under equipped (staff was unable to get online to reschedule and re-issue new boarding passes) We are senior travelers (75 and 80 years old) and were forced to stand in lines for 3 hours We're headed to the airport now, the next day, and I am dreading the experience."

We got a ticket from her but when we got to the plane nobody said anything and we simply did what we had done all the previous flights we have ever taken, we stowed them in the overhead bins. The flight wasn't full and in fact some overhead bins were completely empty, but I guess she had her job to do and thought it wouldn't fit, but maybe she could have asked if we had used it before. I don't know why they say it's too big when we had been traveling throughout Europe for almost a month and had taken it on 4-5 flights and many other trips. It all worked out. Footnote Air France never made a issue of the exact same baggage that Alitalia said was to big. The bags fit fine on all airlines we have traveled. The flight was delayed 45 minutes which made my connection a bit tight. I was connecting to Air France which is part of The SkyTeam alliance comprises with Alitalia but my luggage could not be moved to the Flight to LAX so I had to get the bag I did check and go through the process all over again."
Punti negativi: "We had booked a weekend getaway, first the returned flight was cancelled and changed for a later one that didn't work for us (we couldn't get to work on time), we managed to change that for another flight the day before, shortening our vacation, then, when we got to the airport, an hour before boarding, we find out there, without warning, that the outgoing flight had been cancelled! This time it wasn't automatically changed, and there was no warning, the only solution they were giving us was an afternoon flight the other day, shortening our weekend getaway even more. After half an hour of discussion, they found and earlier flight, with connection, double the time, but that would get us there at around 2pm, so still we were missing almost half a day, but that was the best they could do. The flight was OK, boarding was late, but hey, that seems to always be the experience with this type of flights. I would just say they are not very reliable, having both your outbound and inbound flights cancelled, seems to much, specially if you're just going for a short getaway, you may end up having a one-day getaway!"

Punti negativi: "AZ 316 FCO-CDG, Feb. 1, 2017, Economy. On its Airbus A320 Alitalia has a new section with "Premium Seats". This was done at the cost of the non-premium economy seats. Pitch is unacceptable. When the food cart came I had the back of the seat in front of me 15 cm (5 in) from my forehead. I told the attendants "even cattle could not be handled like that". They commiserated and said "with the changes the we are truly going through rough times." They reseated me to an exit row. Getting a boarding pass online is also a new, unfortunate experience. I have a Platinum Card of AF/KL, which means Elite Plus in Skyteam parlance. My ticket, sold by KL, had an AF flight number. Alitalia pretends now to sell piece by piece all the advantages that are attached to the status (e.g; €8 for early boarding...). The airport personnel confirmed that the system does not allow to print the words "Skyteam Priority" or '"ELP" (for Elite Plus) on the boarding pass. They encouraged me to write to the Powers-that-be that decided to make these user-unfriendly changes. I think that Alitalia, as a Skyteam member, had signed the agreements; they have not rescinded their membership, why don't they just apply the rules? Food: a tiny portion of pop-corn! I couldn't believe it. I will avoid henceforth to fy Alitalia."

The plane was just a few minutes late arriving into Palermo, but it was extremely late leaving for Rome. There didn't seem to be any sense of urgency to get the plane boarded. People were boarding the plane up to 45 minutes after the plane should have departed. I will try to plan better and use Ryanair in the future."

Il punto è che la compagnia sapeva benissimo del mal tempo dato che esiste il meteo che da le "previsioni" in anticipo proprio per evitare problemi ma, non sarebbe stato conveniente annullare il volo e rimborsarci tutti quindi hanno inventato una scusa al momento dell'atterraggio quando ovviamente nessuno dei passeggeri poteva opporsi. BRAVI!!! SIETE MOLTO FURBI. SIETE PROPRIO ITALIANI.. CHE TRISTEZZA!!!! MANGIATEVELI A MEDICINE I MIEI SOLDI. PEZZENTI!"

Particularly when you're tall, like I am, you notice every flight seems to be a bit worse, and year after year that's what's going on. It's gotten to the point I'm not against Ryanair's ridiculous standing seats prototype anymore. At least standing I won't get a trombosis."

He was doing his job with the attitude as if he was doing us a favor, meanwhile making unappropriate comments related to the country of our destination & the United States. He assigned a seat to my boyfriend and informed me that I wont have a seat due to overbooking. We explained to him that we absolutely mus be on the plane due to the importance of an evening we had ahead. He seemed to enjoy the difficulty of our situation & had zero compassion & showed no attempt to help or to see what he can possibly do. The grim on his face suggested "screw you, guys!" And sarcastically added "good luck to you"! Seriously!? I was furious & so upset & also nervous because not making it to the point of our destination would be extremely unfortunate. My boyfriend suggested to assign a seat to me & to check in two luggages under my name & he would figure out an alternative scenario for his way to get to our destination in case they wouldn't find a seat for him at the gate. At the gate we met with two other associates who seemed to have zero training in what their job is. They had no understanding, no outside of the box thinking, no creativity & no any hint of compassion! Striking! Only because a guy from Iberia airlines came to help these two incompetent associates we started to feel that someone with the brain & knowledge is finally involved. Finally, we were given a second seat "miracoulasly" somehow it was available.. hmmm... and guess what!? Not just one! As we got on a plane I saw at least 4 seats (in my vicinity) unoccupied! The bottom line Lafth (the check in guy) knew it! But his miserable attitude had caused us all unnecessary stress, my nerves & caused his company this review. My suggestion- choose other airline!"
