The crew was courteous but the hostesses could try smiling a bit more. Their courtesy was appreciated but it felt very methodical, more of an obligation and not spontaneous. The pilot did a great introduction and gave information about the trip. Also the plane toilets were clean compared to other companies. I expected to see a wider selection of more recent and award winning movies. Will definitely fly Turkish Airlines again."

The in-flight entertainment had a pretty impressive selection and had one of the best-designed interfaces I've seen so far (and I've ridden a variety of airlines). Last and most important, the food was hands down the BEST I've had on a plane. Turkish is killing it, they're my new go-to airline!"

The crew was not as attentive and was not helpful in assisting the grandmother who was sitting next to me with her 2-year-old grandson who wanted to know if another seat was available. There was only once choice for the meals, which I found odd on a long international flight, but I did enjoy the meals. The plane was older than the one I took from New York and were less comfortable. I don't usually have a problem with legroom (I'm pretty average height at 5'5"), but the legroom on this flight was noticeably smaller."

I couldn't check in online and when I called to ask they said that's because I'm making changes (pet) that's why I can't do it and I should do it at airport.. I'm Cairo airport the check point is as soon as you get thru the main door.. Waited in line for check in only to find that all 4 tickets (me and 3 kids) were cancelled and that we had to go outside again to the reservation office (had to go thru check point again) to reissue the tickets. They didn't even appologize for their mistake and they blamed the travel agency.. Very unprofessional and irresponsible people."

The person who served us, Victor K., was probably the least helpful customer service personnel I've come across. He was very slow, considering that he knows there's a lot of us trying to get to our next flight. We ended up missing our connecting flight. And for some reason, the plane left earlier than the time it was supposed to leave. Another mystery to me. Shouldn't their system have told them that there were a few passengers on the previous flight that was supposed to board this connecting flight?! They did give us a free hotel for the night, or so they call a hotel. The food served was just horrendous. They just served whatever is enough to be considered "food". I will never fly with Kenya airways ever again. They are so unreliable, irresponsible, and have very little regard to customer service."

Punti negativi: "We had to transit in Addis (connecting from Dakar) and the whole experience of going through the Addis airport, getting the voucher for the hotel, and going to the hotel was horrible: it took forever going through immigration and getting a simple stamp on the voucher (the latter an unsafe experience and time consuming, with hundreds of people piled up to get those stamps from just two people, crashing again each other, with no order, no lines). Somewhat there has to be a better way to manage this and make the experience safer and more comfortable to everybody. For instance, just enforcing to stay in line and organizing the lines would have saved everybody a lot of time and effort."

Business class was mostly empty and looked very nice and roomy. They should upgrade their frequent flyers the way other airlines do to fill those empty seats and generate the good PR that results. The food was good in my opinion, and the Ethiopian coffee is great. Affordably priced tickets was the selling point for choosing them. They are a young airline and while they go through the motions of being a modern service-oriented airline, but alas for the most part they aren't there yet."
Punti negativi: "We've flown a few Ethiopian Air flights now and while the flight attendants are nice, they aren't always on top of things and paying attention to the needs of the passengers. Not as helpful or attentive as we're used to. Boarding is chaotic and the overnight transfer at Addis Ababa is a total mess. If you get to leave through the airport in the early morning things are relatively painless, but what a nightmare of pushing and shoving chaos when it's busy. The hotels they put you up in are mediocre at best. Last week we enjoyed a long wait for the bus ride to the hotel, cold food when we arrived, and a nice hard bed to "sleep" in. We probably won't fly Ethiopian Air if we have to overnight in Addis Ababa again. I'm willing to pay up to fly another airline and skip the overnight as it's just not worth the hassle."

It was chaotic, with people struggling to find which line to be in. There was no visible guidance from Ethiopian ground crew. Eventually got in line. One guy checking boarding passes for both business and economy. Very slow with again no crowd control. Children were not given priority. Eventually many people went through business queue while others had been waiting in economy. Ground staff were standing around watching and not helping or communicating. Poor show from Ethiopian!"

Punti negativi: "The arrangement of the airport was disconcerting. To get to your gate you have to pass a another security point that you can not leave. The area was akin to a cattle yard. No bathroom, water, or amenities. You had to stay in your pen until boarding. Duty free was not allowed and had to be purchased on the plane for an additional cost. Not to mention the whole stopping in Dublin, Ireland for fuel without notice. There was nothing in my paperwork about it and we were only told to stay in our seats for the next hour or so while they refueled. We didn’t do that on the flight over was that was worrying and we were given no additional information."

Punti negativi: "They overbooked and pushed us to later flight, later flight boarded late, on run way 2 hours, plane maintenance issue so changed aircraft—supposed to arrive 1:30pm, arrived after 10pm, gate agent erased reservation adding frequent flyer number so my seat was given to someone else and I sat finally in last row by toilet instead of with my family—then no one can find record of my return flight and Ethiopian contact number impossible to reach. Truly awful experience. I have no idea if I will have seat on return flight."

Punti negativi: "Besides that the flight was 4 hours delayed and the staff gave different information then the screen, customer service was non existant. There seems to be no structure or system. Gate change was not announced. Staff was not clear or direct about status of the flight. I have had several flights with EA and most have been completely disappointing and frustrating. Forget trying to call anyone, it took me 4 days of non stop calls to connect with someone to change my flight date. Then once connected the credit card system was apparently down and they could not charge my fee. I had to contact the US office while I was in Africa in order to get anything done, ridiculous. They over charged me and would not honor the fees that were quoted on the phone and via email but the head office. Dishonest and no concern for the inconvenience to their customers. This airline would be the last choice, highly not recommended."

A crowd of people boarding for two different planes just rushed the gate area. I’ve got no idea how everyone ended up on the right plane. My flight was never announced I had to keep going up to ask over and over. The bathrooms at the airport are unhygienic and the available food is abysmal. On the plane was better except that the only entertainment is over head screens that didn’t work my overnight flight was miserable as the lights were on the whole time and they repeatedly woke me up to eat throughout the flight. I’ll do what I can to avoid the Addis airport from now on."

Punti negativi: "Terminal 1 Disgusting. Rundown, embarrassing, chaos everywhere and no real sense of security. No police or security presence. You could just walk right into a gate! I was shocked to see this especially being from NYC. If you can avoid Terminal 1 do so. The seats were DISGUSTING! Dirty, warped fabric seating was dirty and caked on. Smelled and many seats were visually broken. I'm glad I brought with me some Clorox wipes to wipe my area down with. You get what you pay for but wow! I would not spend my money on this airline again."

Punti negativi: "Toilets always get messy because there are many people flying for the first time and some using a public toilet (or even flush toilet) for first time ever. They need instructions in the bathroom for how to use the toilet, how to keep it clean, how to dispose of trash, how to flush toilet paper, etc. If fly all over the world, but every time I fly from Africa it's the same mess, regardless of airline. Simple instructions would help - they cannot assume all of their clients have used flush toilets when over 80% of Africans do not have them."
