To top it off, the plane was very smelly; I got a headache because of it. We also had to return to the gate due to a technical issue and ended up leaving almost two hours late, which defeated the purpose of picking this flight over the rest as it was the one that was supposed to land in Milan the earliest. I will be careful next time I pick a flight to check what kind of airplane they're using. My assumption that international flights have the best airplanes seems to be wrong :(."

New seats assigned, but then when 3rd plane was brought in, it had the exact configuration of the first and we were told we should use the original boarding passes. These turned out to be wrong because they reseated after the first plane went down and it’s replacement wasn’t the same configuration. We never saw that plane, or the gate it was assigned to. When we went to rebound, my wife I am were separated. We were moved to the way back (screaming baby sandwich - one in front and one behind us). Then we spent an hour in the worst turbulence I’ve seen in 20 years - I nearly vomited. the last 6 hours of this 15 hour ordeal were fine."

Tutti quelli che avevano coincidenze strette sull'aereo per ogni parte del mondo erano allibiti da questa mancanza di informazioni, Una volta arrivati a Toronto il personale di terra non sapeva nulla e siamo dovuti correre fino al gate seguendo le indicazioni dei monitor che davano lo stato del volo come "Boarding". Arrivati trafelati al gate abbiamo scoperto che il volo era partito mezz'ora prima e si erano dimenticati di aggiornare lo stato del volo sui monitor......................... Dopo un'ora di attesa al banco dell'assistenza ci hanno mandati in hotel e dato il biglietto per il volo del giorno successivo. Parte dei pasti li abbiamo pagati di tasca nostra visti i pochi dollari di buono per mangiare (7$ per la colazione, 10$ per pranzo e 15$ per la cena, spendibili esclusivamente all'Holiday Inn dove la sola colazione a buffet costava 17$ + tasse..."

Punti positivi: "The fact that I got fully refunded, even though I still lost out on $500+."
Punti negativi: "My flight was supposed to leave at 12, and all that Kept happening was me receiving text messages about delays pushing my departure time back to 5:35pm. I missed a big birthday event I was throwing for my class that I teach, lost out on money spent for the event and missed out on all the memories made that night. I never got to leave, ended up cancelling my flight. What a waste of time. Seems to always happen when I fly through United."

Punti negativi: "Tried to book legroom online and by phone but told it was all sold out; only to arrive and find out it wasn't and had to pay $40 more."

Punti positivi: "Spazio per le gambe leggermente maggiore rispetto al volo di andata operato da Lufthansa, schermo per l'intrattenimento e scelta di film/serie tv molto buoni."
Punti negativi: "Inaccettabile che le hostess siano scortesi e rispondano in modo brusco a domande (tipo dove si trovano le toilette) fatte con gentilezza! Viaggio tantissimo, ma non mi era mai capitato, neanche nelle low cost, che passando con il carrello delle bevande, la hostess sbraitasse "Something?" ai passeggeri, quasi correndo, e che sembrasse addirittura scocciata se viene fermata per dell'acqua!! Pessima impressione, che ha reso ancora più sgradevole un red-eye flight che già di per sè non è un'esperienza piacevole."

Punti positivi: "Despite delays, united employees went out of their way to make sure I made my connection and got to my destination on time."
Punti negativi: "Many delays in and out if lax due to construction. All four of my flights were delayed. The initial and the connection, both coming and going"

Punti negativi: "Seat was inoperable and frozen in upright position in business class cabin. Last to order entree had only 2 of 7 choices remaining and fish was extremely unappetizing presentation."

Punti positivi: "Food was very good, almost restaurant-level. Wine selection was good as well"
Punti negativi: "While on the plane at the gate, had to wait 20 mins for someone to hang my jacket (had to ask and the person came back 5 mins later) despite the fact that the attendant immediately checked on the guy next to me when he sat down, who apparently had status with United (attendant ignored me). I guess a $7,000 fare doesn't warrant special attention. I had to ask the same attendant for other items at times, but he'd forget and I'd have to ask someone else. Also, the seats were decent yet a bit crowded IMHO. I'm 5'10" and my feet were crammed up against the front of the space when fully reclined. The width of the seat area was a bit tight as well. Finally, they have 2 heads (toilets) that serve both the business class section ( maybe 50 people) as well as the front of economy. One of the pilots was waiting at the same time as me and agreed that it was a pretty questionable layout for the number of seats covered. All in all, not my favorite airline and nothing on this trip so far changed that view."

Punti positivi: "This overhead bag thing is just nuts. We were told there was no more room for bags after visibly panicked attendant came running up the jetway. Five poor people got their bags checks, then the plan was abandoned. In row 31, there were still empty bins. Do yourselves a big favor, UAL, and make it easier, not harder to fly. I have flown United for 30+ years but when you start charging for overhead bins, I am gone. This is insane. Win your customers' loyalty if you want your profits to rise."
