The boarding process was a nightmare, very disorganized the crew members starting boarding group by group just using ONE of the two entrances available because of it the line to board the plan occupied almost 2 boarding gates. I couldn’t reclaim my seat because it was broke, the quality of the food was very mediocre, crew members attitude were upsetting... uncaring and ignoring passengers call. Another filthy plain ... I had 4 flights with avianca between 2 International fights and 2 national connections, all flights were terrible! The worse part is I probably could’ve flight more comfortable for less money or at least get what I paid for."

Punti negativi: "At check in in Bogota we asked which line to turn in luggage; as we had previously done online checkin. We were placed in a long line and waited about 45 min.s. Several people were allowed to bypass the line, as they were 'late' for their flight. When we were close to being served the attendant 'placing customers in lines' directed four or five groups from the special needs line ahead of our line in a row. We were told we had missed the baggage check in by 2 minutes and had to pay $60 usd to take an flight 2 hours later. We were then yelled at that we had been in the wrong line. There was another line, very fast one, one the opposite side of the gate area for those with 'bag drop' only needs. I had showed the airline personnel our check in info on my cell and was placed in the wrong line by them. So many problems at airport check in with this airline."

Punti negativi: "When arriving at the airport in Bogota not only the flight was delayed but the gate was changed and the person at the counter in the gate wrote the wrong gate on the ticket and flight to Lima was missed. They booked the passenger in the next flight 9 hours after. They did not provide any food nor hotel so passenger to stay at the airport. My guess, they overbooked the flight as they always do, this trip was for my son (20) traveling by himself for the first time, they took advantage of his inexperience; this is is my 3rd bad experience with Avianca and definitely the last one!"

I definitely suggest to invest a little bit more of money and try to travel Business Class so you can get the whole experience: quick/easy check-in, VIP Lounge and great flight. Punti negativi: "On Feb 26th we had a flight leaving Bogota back to NYC, and at the gate, we found out our flight would not be operated by Avianca, but by a Spanish carrier called WAMOS. Wamos airlines does not offer in-flight entertainment. It offers an app that you can download on your mobile device prior the flight, even though there are no plugs inside the plane and no fully reclining seats. This change is being caused by an ongoing strike action by some of their own pilots and this has been regarded with absolute no consideration from Avianca to its costumers. At the airport we talked to 3 different customer services employees, all giving us different versions of the story and no clear answers. One employee told us that we MAY have a possibility of reimbursement and another one that we could stay in a hotel and catch another flight the next day (which was not an option for us) There was no advance warning about this change to me (not even during check-in) Found out later some passengers gotten an email informing about this change, but not all of them. Staff didn't know anything about this flight. The gate staff only informed passengers of the change, after I complained, and kept insisting that the airplanes were the same, when clearly it was not the same quality, in amenities and service on board. There were big delays and a mess with seat assignments. Many customers traveling together with separated seats and of course, delays in departure caused by the mess that Avianca caused. Just to be clear. what Avianca is doing is stealing the money that we paid for a specific flight, to voluntary change us to a much less inferior flight, with absolutely no consideration and no compensations."

However, once I arrived I was told I was on a 6 AM on Delta with no arrangement to get me a hotel or anything. I bought a separate ticket on that 11:45 flight on Alaska Air to PDX instead. Extremely unhappy with this service and will never again use it. I will also tell everyone in my social circles, in person and online, to stop using it."

Punti negativi: "I bought my flight and it had 2 connections. The time frame between flights was HORRIBLE! On the first flight change I was in a horrible rush to get there on time an I barely made it. On the second flight change, I was one of the firsts in coming out on the plane, I didn't stop even for a second and was fast paced and even with that I had to run from half of the airport to the gate because boarding was complete and the flight was waiting for just a few persons (which I met later because it happened the same to all of us) . My flights were on time so all that stress was NOT SUPPOSED to happen. It took forever to being able to get out of the plane and it was more than clear that Avianca didn't took any of that or the airport procedures in mind before selling the flights with connections. And because their lack of organization and being so careless about this matter, my checked bag got stucked. I was lucky enough to get home but my bag did not. And it happened the same to the other people who had problems with their connections too (that's where I met them, when we were the only persons who didn't got the bags and happened to have similar experiences with our connecting flights). I'm really disappointed, I really liked Avianca flights in general but now I know I can't trust in their judgement when it comes to connecting flights, they just sell you the flight and don't care if you're going to be able to make it or not."

When asked to persuade certain travellers to put their seats in the upright position during mealtimes they refused and claimed that it is bussines of mine to arrange for that. In the course of previous flight they have hower required that. Very confusing. The behaviour and performance of the crew was hardly proffesional. They paid little attention e.g. To people who did respect instructions concerning fastening the seat belts orcto remain seated during landing, etc."

Punti negativi: "Everything was bad. Super delayed, terrible explanation. Had to stay overnight in the airport in the worst lounge I’ve ever seen in my life. Got a hotel voucher but by the time I would have gotten through immigration and got to a hotel I would have had 1 hour to “sleep” before having to get back to the airport for the 4 am flight which was then delayed again to 5am. After all this, we only got a $250 voucher on a $1500 flight. When I asked about business class upgrades they said they had seats open but it would cost $400! For a seat that stayed empty Instead of giving it to a customer who had been through the worst travel experience of their life. The flight attendants seemed like they really couldn’t give a damn about helping out customers and it’s the only airline I’ve ever interacted with where no one speaks English. One guy actually rolled his eyes when I asked him for the meal I missed when I was sleeping."

People will bring bags with full roasted chickens - Entretainment was ok, but their system is just so slow - A lot of loss time because they lost my bags in one of the connections. Hopefully they brough it back 12 hours later"

I agreed and had to make arrangements to make transportation from manisales to pereira,for my surprise on the way to manisales the flight got redirected to Pereira my original destination, that was great but created another inconvenience for my transportation arrangements."

Punti negativi: "After all these connecting flights especially after being delayed in Cali, the flight in Bogota was delayed and the Avianca crew did not announce it. After realizing it was time for boarding according to the time that I needed to be at the gate from my ticket, that's when people were realizing there was an issue. Once I got to the podium and handed my tickets the staff handed a voucher. There wasn't a hello, we're sorry for the inconvenience or the reason why the flight was delayed 2 hours. I had to ask them why what happened, what is the voucher for, how does it work, what time we were expected to be at the gate. The staff made everyone aware that we needed to be at the gate at 4pm so we can depart at 445pm. The food was okay and the staff looked a little annoyed when serving drinks. I shouldn't say all of the crew but from the back half of the plane the staff looked annoyed if not bothered. Didn't get to NYC until 12am, but had to wait on the runway for an additional 20 minutes. Again no communication on what was going on."

My poor rating was because the luggage handling was really poor. Lots of flights from Paris to Amsterdam (almost hourly), but my bag showed up 12 hours later. My wife's bag took 36 hours. And yes, we checked in together. There were lots of confusing messages"

My carry on bag had to be stored in the bottom of the aircraft as the overhead lockers in the aircraft are small. As such - just before you board the aircraft, you place your carryon bag at the bottom of the steps and then when you get off at your destination, you collect your carry on bag at the bottom of the steps - no time wasted and worked easily."

The Air France flight that was boarding next to ours at gate 9 got everybody onto the plane before our flight did and their plane was scheduled to take off 10 minutes AFTER us. The boarding attendant didn’t do a good job of announcing the group number for boarding. After priority and no baggage passengers, it was just one big mob. Our boarding passes were in group 1 but my mom ended up being one of the last people let through. The 2 attendants made her wait because they needed to tag her luggage. I guess they felt it was too big for carrying on. Which is fine. But they literally made her stand there while they let almost everyone else in line through. They even tagged other luggages and she was still waiting. And when she asked them about it, they told her to wait and they have to assist other people. What’s the point of being group 1 for boarding then? We still had to wait til pretty much everyone else went in. And the fact that our seats were in row 29 which is at the tail end of the plane made it even worse. Now we need to squeeze by 28 rows of people when we could’ve been in our seats and out of the way a long time ago. Terrible service!"

Anyway, Iberia offered to rebook me the following day and put me on standby for the next flight to give me the morning to renew my passport. However when I came back to check in for the second flight, the original attendant had forgotten to actually add me to the standby list and in the meantime, my connecting flight had become overbooked. The check-in folks argued about whether I could be upgraded to fit onto this flight, but decided that since the original dely was my fault, the best they could offer was a flight at the same time the following day. I asked if I could rebook my return flight to push it back a day, and they told me that figure reservations could only be changed over the phone. I totally accept that monitoring the validity of my passport is my responsibility, but refusing to put in an ounce of effort to assist their customers with relatively unknown and counterintuitive restrictions, then not admitting to fault of your own or lifting a finger to make up for blatantly crappy service if it even slightly affects their bottom line is absurd. Do better, Iberia. Oh wait, you're an airline. I won't hold my breath."

To our surprise the connecting flight already left when we arrived to Madrid. It’s clear that this was a case of “not our problem” from the JFK Iberia ticket agent. Rather than helping us find a viable alternative for our flight (namely a flight that doesn’t arrive more than a full day later) before leaving for Madrid they shipped us to Madrid where there were poor/no options for getting to Split at the original planned time. I’m very upset that I’m going arrive more than a day late to my destination and that I was blatantly lied to by the Iberia agent at JFK, never ever going to book a flight with Iberia again."

Punti negativi: "A two-hour fog delay in London assured me that I wouldn't make my connecting flight to New York. Both the Air Europa desk attendants at the airport and the customer service agent on the phone took no action, telling me simply that they would take responsibility in Madrid, where I had a layover. Sure enough, I missed the connection, and the Air Europa staff in Madrid were even less helpful, showing practically no problem-solving ability and even less empathy. In the end, I couldn't leave Madrid until 24 hours later and had to cancel half of my weekend plans in New York, frustrating friends and family who were expecting me. Overall, this was a nightmare experience. The indifference shown by Air Europa staff was outrageous."

Punti negativi: "There was only one person initially checking people in. Then when there was a second person, she was going to make us move to the end of the other line after waiting 30 minutes. She did end up taking us, but it was only after conceding that."

Punti negativi: "Nuestro vuelo entre Boston y Lisboa arriba llegó con retraso a su destino, Lisboa. En Lisboa, las maletas se retrasaron más de 1 hora. Debido a ambos retrasos, perdimos el vuelo de conexión entre Lisboa y Oviedo. En Lisboa, los empleados del mostrador de Air Europa ni nos miraron a la cara. No se disculparon ni hicieron ningún ademán de ayuda. No había otros vuelos entre Lisboa y Oviedo hasta el día siguiente. Tuvimos que rehacer los billetes de avión en el aeropuerto de Lisboa, encontrar un hotel en Lisboa y cenar allí por el retraso del avión de su compañia y el indebido manejo de equipajes. Aunque las compañias aereas entre Boston y Lisboa y Lisboa y Oviedo fuesen distintintas, el asunto de " no es nuestro problema" " no es una sloución" al viajero, especialmente cuando se trata de vuelos internacionales. Lo menos que Air Europa podría haber hecho por nosotros es habernos facilitado un voucher para pasar la noche en Lisboa. Por decirlo claramente, rehacer los billetes a Oviedo y pasar la noche en Lisboa sumó otros 1000 dólares. Ni que decir que en Oviedo tuvimos que rehacer todo lo demás,porque nuestro vuelo no salió hasta las 4 de la tarde del día siguente. La vuelta del día 21 de Julio desde Lisboa a Boston aconteció iigualmente con otras dos horas de retraso. La compañia Delta en Boston e ofreció a montarnos en un avión Bostón-Atlanta más tarde sin gasto alguno. Su compañia en cambio se disculpó en un vuelo internacional. Su lema "No es nuestro problema". De poco sirve esto ahora de vuelta en mi casa, exceptuando que esta familia no utilizará en el futuro su compañia en ningún vuelo internacional, ni recomendará su aerolinea a otras personas. Nunca Iberia,Delta, Air France, British Airways, Tap ni American se han comportado de este modo a lo largo de nuestro recorrido por el mundo."
Punti negativi: "Every flight was at least an hour delayed. We were insanely late for our connection flight due to a totally unnecessary delay at the first airport. We then SPRINTED across the whole Madrid airport and then when we arrived to second plane was TWO HOURS delayed. The staff always seemed to be working, but was completely inefficient in getting anything done. It took them 20 minutes to respond to our notice (we pressed the air attendant button on our seats) and then told us we couldn't get snacks because they were giving out pizzas, which took another hour. Every single part of our flight was delayed and inefficient... with no reason ever being given. It was pretty miserable overall and I will likely never use Air Europa ever again."

Punti negativi: "I bought 2 tickets at the same time for me and my wife and the sat us separately 10 rows apart from each other. Its stupid they dont let you choose your own seats. Also paying for the bag was another long process and had to go to 3 sepparate counters because Air Europa required a different procedure. Pilots necer announced upcomig turbulence and the landing was horrible. Old and uncomfortable seatbelts. Ive been on 3 flights this week and this was by far the worst. Wont be flying Air Europa in the future."

Punti negativi: "Crew was kind of rude. Late dinner service, on a overnight transatlantic lasting only 7.5 hrs one cannot wait More than two hours to get dinner and be able to catch some sleep. Noisy breakfast service, it did not matter if people tried to keep sleeping. The in-flight entertainment program was not tested and needed to be rebooted well into the first hour of flight. Poor preparation and not very kind crew."

Punti negativi: "The airplane was old, the food was OK for breakfast but the dinner was bad. The check in app didn't work properly and I was not able to get the boarding pass of the seat I wanted. It isn't a direct flight, there is a 2 hours stop in Asunción and you have to take everything with you like you were changing planes. They should allow to leave stuff one the plane. Also, be aware that 50+ HK seats are reserved for the crew, I selected one of those in the outbound flight and they changed me to another seat that was near the toilet with no window. A really bad flight."

Punti negativi: "I had an isle seat assigned to me at check in, however I strongly feel discriminated against by your stewardess Sylvia , after she made me move so another young lady could have an isle of 3 seats all to herself. The made me food to another seat (50 something) when I know I didn't have that seat. I would never recommend this airline - I travel often and plenty and have never been so humiliated and made to feel less than. They way I was asked to move was as if I was a disturbance , as if I sat next to the pilot of the plane ....it wasn't even offered an apology or asked kindly. It's unacceptable."
