Punti negativi: "The entire flight had to wait before two other flights to board that were scheduled to board after us. Flight took an extra hour to reach the destination, and during the flight the crew was constantly banging into me when I had my arms within the arm rests. Once at the airport, our entire flight had to wait for a flight that landed after our’s luggage to come through the conveyor belt. There was only the option of fish for food. Who offers basically microwaved fish on a flight, everyone knows you shouldn’t reheat fish. There was also no entertainment on a 6 1/2 hour flight and the WiFi would not connect."

When we landed, we sat on the runway for 20 minutes or so waiting for a gate. Customs/immigration in Boston was HORRIBLE, we waited in lines for over 90 minutes."

Punti negativi: "5 hrs delay and missed all connecting flights. Airline initially rescheduled flight 2 days later. Called Kayak and got no support. Kayak agent told us to keep pushing the airline. After 2 hrs of "working" with the airline, we were able to fly into Madrid the following day. Had to spend extra money for hotel room and car rental in Madrid because our final destination was Sevilla. Will never work with Azores or Kayak again. BTW, did we mention that while "working" with Azores to reschedule flight, we were booked to fly into an island off of Africa. Luckily, we followed up online with the changed itinerary."

The flight attendants looked miserable, but were trying their best given the circumstances. The airplane was outdated, the seats not comfortable, and no in flight entertainment. SATA/Air Azores has a monopoly on the flights in and out of the Azores to the USA and no other airlines are allowed to flight that route. They should be ashamed of themselves by the way they run this airline and treat the passengers."

Punti negativi: "Boarding was slow and had people check in at the gate just to wait at the bottom of the stairs for 10-15 minutes in a hot stuffy area because there was no cobus available to transfer people to the aircraft! For the second time flying with Azores Airlines, the in-flight entertainment system did not work in all seats, only in some; of course not ours. Very disappointing and boring for long overseas flights!"

Punti negativi: "We arrived at Logan airport to find a mass of people waiting to check in for the flight. Turns out, Azores Airlines flights had been being cancelled all week and many people had been stranded in Boston (and likewise in the Azores) for days. The local news was even filming a story about the mess while we were there. The monitors above the check in desks did not have any information and there didn't really appear to be a line. No employees were around to explain what was going on. Eventually an announcement was made that our flight was cancelled and to come back the next day. Still no info on the monitors at the airline desks or on the main airport arrivals and departures board, which continued to show the flight as on time the duration of our time at the airport. I had the app on my phone which also showed the flight as being on time. After the cancellation announcement people stayed in line to get hotel vouchers, but since my husband and I live in Boston we weren't sure if there was another part of the process to get new tickets issued or something. After waiting a long time in which the line never moved I was eventually able to check in with an employee who said we didn't need to do anything, just come back tomorrow. When we got home we were able to catch the news broadcast mentioned earlier in which passengers from the earlier flights were explaining how they kept being told to come back to the airport day after day and nothing happened, so I wasn't reassured! The next day we arrived at Logan and things started out smoothly. We were able to check in and get through security. The flight got delayed a few times after that. Boarding was a mess. People started lining up. While we waited, we noticed people at the gate desk in line. It turned out to be people getting reimbursed for their taxis. There was no announcement made and I think this delayed things further since they didn't start this until boarding was starting despite having had hours to do this prior! After people were already lined up to board it was announced that they would board by "sequence number" on the ticket so we stepped out of line only to have them not check numbers at all. In the end we took off about 26 hours after we were supposed to. The flight itself was a sort of charter flight, the airline basically rented a plane and crew to get us over to the Azores. However, we did take the Azores Airline flight back so I know the food would have been mediocre and there wouldn't be in seat entertainment. I would love to return to the Azores but I'm not sure I would unless Azores Airlines steps up their game! Definitely get trip interruption insurance! We were thankfully able to get reimbursed for accommodations and rental car missed days."

No in flight entertainment, only one meal served, no spot to plug in electronics, and the bathroom door was broken and didn't lock. I would suggest paying a little more for a better and more reliable airline."

The hotels were 40 minutes (1st night) and 1 hour (2nd night) away. There was no one available to talk at the airport and the line was ridiculously long. I had planned a trip for 2.5 weeks exploring Portugal and Spain and missed the Portugal portion completely because I was delayed in Boston. I finally gave up waiting and bought a ticket through a different airline so I could meet my friends and not miss any more of my trip."

The agent checking us in had no clue about our itinerary, for example, to tell us that we were changing planes in the Azores, AND - really important - making sure we had the boarding passes to do so. Food was really lame (I know, we're lucky they gave us any, right) and there was no in-flight wifi or entertainment."

Look, the plane departed and arrived more or less on time, which is all I really care about. All of the creature comforts people complain about pale in comparison to the miracle of mass transportation by airplane for a good price."

Punti negativi: "Everything. This airline is the bare minimum. No TV's, no WIFI, uncomfortable seats, no leg room, NO AIR VENT, narrow isles, unfriendly flight attendants... Should I continue? There are no amenities with this airline. It's like stepping back in time... Worst airline I have ever flown!"

Punti negativi: "So far as I can tell, Azores doesn't particularly know how to run a plane. Their service was laughably bad, if you aren't in the plane suffering it. Boarding is bad. They start about 45 minutes prior to the flight, and need it because they're gonna bus you out to the plane. There is no order to who gets on first, you just get into the mob-like line and hope for the best. Once we got to the plane, we waited standing for no apparent reason for about 30 minutes. No announcement was made (in Portuguese or English). Because there was no order to how people got onto the busses, people blocked the isle getting onto the plane as well. Result, we departed Lisbon 1 hour late. There was a connection in the Azores. There everyone had to deplane, even if you were continuing on (more busses). And then getting onto the plane was the same deal. Result, we departed the islands even later, finally reaching Boston 2:15 late. Amazingly, my connecting flight wouldn't leave for another 40 minutes. The lady at the exit ramp told me that should be enough time to get through customs and over to the connection. Unsurprisingly it wasn't. On the plane, the seats were small and uncomfortable. Leg room was minimal. The seats had screens built into the back of them, but none of them worked. The only 'entertainment' we got was watching Linux continuously reboot on the seat screen next to mine. My personal screen didn't even offer this. Food was dry crackers, and an equally dry and sad sandwich. Portions were very small, so plan on packing a lunch. They do offer complimentary beer and wine, but getting a steward over to serve you is near impossible. Service was gruff, and frequently not very polite. I was hit by stewards running (actually running) up and down the isle. Stewards seemed generally more interested in talking in the back of the plane than serving passengers."
