Punti negativi: No automatic locks. I had to use a key to open the car door.

Punti positivi: We upgraded and extended our rental. The guy at the airport couldn't have been more pleasant or helpful. Upgraded us to a 2026 Suburban and only charges us for a regular minivan. Being a family of 5 this was very helpful.
Watch out for unexpected charges

Punti negativi: Terrible experience - they gave away my car because my flight was delayed. They are located in the airport, they have access to the flight info. They could have easily figured out that my flight was delayed. There was no communication - they simply gave my car away and had nothing else available unless I wanted to pay double the price for an upgrade.

Punti negativi: My original 4-day rental was about $150 including all fees and taxes. When I called to inquire about adding two days, I was quoted (after a long hold) over $500 total. I asked to check the rate and see if my original daily rate - or close to it - could be extended, but the answer was no. As a result I returned the Hertz vehicle and rented for two more days from another company at $100 total including taxes and fees.

And then next on 5/16 when the desk agent said they could have my mini van ready. And twice they did not have the mini van. No one knew where it was or who had it. I paid for a mini van and I never got it. I ended up having to cancel my car reservation completely after already extending it a day and it ruined my entire weekend travel plans home. I will not use this company again to book a car rental at all. It was absolutely chaotic and the desk agents were rude and CarRentals.com had no one to help me since they are a third party and same with Kayak

Not only do they average 15 minutes per customer, often there’s only one individual working. I waited 40 minutes before finally being handed my contract.
When I walked outside to get my car, they didn’t have it ready and available. I had called ahead of time to make my reservation, so I was confused as to why it wasn’t ready to go. I waited an additional 15 minutes for someone to bring the car up to me.
I asked and paid for the midsize car and ended up with a very compact car that barely held all of my stuff.
I was on my way to another airport to catch a flight. I had planned on 30 minutes to get my rental car, but the hour the process took overall caused me to almost miss my flight. What’s more, a few of the individuals working for thrifty were rude and placing blame on me for the tight timeframe despite their lack of preparation and holding up their end of the bargain and contract.

The paper work and other trash was left in the car from the renter before me. Also, the charger did not work and I ran out of battery on my phone. This resulted in losing the GPS directions. The man that waited on me in Sarasota was curt and unfriendly.

defective vehicle
Punti negativi: The steering on the vehicle was defective and it was dangerous to drive. After I drove to my destination ,which was about 60 miles away from the Avis location I never drove the vehicle. I would have returned it immediately however it was just before Hurricane Irma struck and I hadn't to get my wife and myself to safety. It was a frightening drive. I called the Avis help the next day and explained the problem to them. A tow truck was sent to retrieve the vehicle that day and I thought that would be the end of it. However, I received my American Express bill with a charge of $464.12 which I have challenged. I should not have to pay for a defective vehicle which I only drove for about 60 miles and only because I had no choice.Not only that, but the invoice I received from Avis shows a balance of $464.12 and reflects that I drove the vehicle for 351 miles which is absolutely false. The only time I drove the vehicle was the day I rented it Since I rented the vehicle thru you, I would appreciate it if you would try to resolve this issue for me as I have no intention of paying for a defective vehicle.

Car type misrepresented
Punti positivi: Once we had the car we needed everything was fine but we were forced to pay substantially more.
Punti negativi: We booked a 7 seater suv as we have many times in the past and received an XL with no additional charges. There is no option for XL when booking. They had an XL but would not give it to us unless we paid more which we were forced to do as we had no alternative as regular suv's will not accomodate 7 people and luggage. Felt very taken advantage of and exteemely rude service at counter.

After I drove to my destination ,which was about 60 miles away from the Avis location I never drove the vehicle. I would have returned it immediately however it was just before Hurricane Irma struck and I hadn't to get my wife and myself to safety. It was a frightening drive. I called the Avis help the next day and explained the problem to them. A tow truck was sent to retrieve the vehicle that day and I thought that would be the end of it. However, I received my American Express bill with a charge of $464.12 which I have challenged. I should not have to pay for a defective vehicle which I only drove for about 60 miles and only because I had no choice.Not only that, but the invoice I received from Avis shows a balance of $464.12 and reflects that I drove the vehicle for 351 miles which is absolutely false. The only time I drove the vehicle was the day I rented it Since I rented the vehicle thru you, I would appreciate it if you would try to resolve this issue for me as I have no intention of paying for a defective vehicle.

Car type misrepresented
Punti positivi: Once we had the car we needed everything was fine but we were forced to pay substantially more.
Punti negativi: We booked a 7 seater suv as we have many times in the past and received an XL with no additional charges. There is no option for XL when booking. They had an XL but would not give it to us unless we paid more which we were forced to do as we had no alternative as regular suv's will not accomodate 7 people and luggage. Felt very taken advantage of and exteemely rude service at counter.
Avis is terrible
Punti negativi: The car was not ready on time and I had to wait half an hour. They were eager to offer me other cars for money. The person bringing the car around was extremely rude. The bluetooth connection on the car did not work.

Punti negativi: I called to let them know I needed the car two days earlier. Had to leave a voice mail and got no return call. Didn't know where to find the shuttle. Took forever to process paper work. When we went to return the car, there was no one there. We had to call two different numbers to get someone there to check the car in and give us a ride to the airport. HORRIBLE!!!! And it wasn't cheap either.
Was great! Would def use you again!

Did that -- told us that no cars were available (all cars reserved -- tho of course my car was reserved too). Told to come back the next day between 8-10am -- when there would surely be plenty of cars. Did...and after 30 minutes (first saying there were no cars) they found a small car. Incidentally, had tried to call ahead each time but the main office didn't know the local car situation and no one answered the phone at the local office. Local office told me that they don't have anyone available to answer the phone. This isn't a problem that can be solved without people driving all the way to the airport to find out if there are cars available?

A bit hard for me as I was visiting an elderly relative, but wanted to help him out as he really didn’t have any cars. Didn’t realize when I agreed that the gas cost would be so much more with a vehicle that size. Probably cost me an extra 10-15 dollars and I was the one inconvenienced. Would have been nice to have been offered a credit for that.
