Hotel a Vila Nova de Gaia

Punti positivi: Piscina,giardino, attenzione verso i bambini, staff attento e cortese. Tutto davvero ok!

Punti positivi: Che dire alla reception ho fatto il check-in e la signorina si è accorta dai miei documenti che era il giorno del mio compleanno e mi ha fatto gli auguri, cosa che ho molto gradito. Poi abbiamo depositato i bagagli e siamo andati a fare un giro per la città. Al Nostro ritorno entrò in camera e mi hanno fatto una sorpresa molto gradita: ho trovato 4 piatti con due cioccolatini a testa + un vassoio di frutta con dolcetti e un cestello con ghiaccio e una bottiglia di spumante con due fluit e due bottigliette di succo di frutta per le mie bimbe, tutto documentato e fotografato . Che dire in tanti anni di viaggi e con tante occasioni di compleanni non mi è mai capitata una cosa del genere. Veramente attenti al cliente e molto ma molto professionali.

Evening receptionist swopped our room to disabled very kind. However evening bar staff were a disgrace. Waited ages to order bar food and drinks. A lady eventually took our order. Then nothing. No body poured a glass of wine or a beer whilst we were waiting. We were in the bar an hour and a half. Nothing. We asked a younger man to serve us no. Batman arrived. He refused to serve us. So we cancelled and went to the Ibis served with drinks in 5 minutes. Food in 10 mins. Pleasant efficient staff at ibis. Ate there 3 nights. Snacks given with drinks. Polite. On last night as I had broken my foot helped me to sit stand up etc. will stay there in future. And less expensive !!

Nel dubbio fossero stati i miei bimbi ed essendo arrivati tardi alla sera, ho pensato che il giorno dopo avrebbero lavato comunque i pavimenti. Non e' stato cosi', quindi ho chiesto esplicitamente di pulire, ma al terzo giorno ancora niente... penso che la macchia appiccicosa sia ancora li'.

Punti positivi: Excellent jumping off point for VN Gaia and outskirts of Porto. Motorways are easily accessible and parking is easy at the hotel underground site. For local trips there is always an Uber available at a minute's notice. Restaurant food is very good quality and there are basic gym facilities available too.

Punti positivi: abbiamo scelto la posizione per poter arrivare in breve tempo al centro ed in effetti i taxi in 10 minuti portano sulla sponda del duro. la struttura ha delle stanza ampie con un bel panorama sulla città, purtroppo non fanno rispettare il precetto di non fumare per cui c'è puzza di fumo anche nei corridoi. molto bella la hall d'ingresso, con mobili di design e soluzioni d'arredamento d'impatto, vi sono anche dei corner che potrebbero preparare tapas o aperitivi, ma non li abbiamo visti attivi. Estremamente gentile e competente la ragazza che prepara gli snack nella zona centrale di fronte alla reception ci ha sempre accolti con il sorriso e ci ha consigliato su cosa prendere per spizzicare in attesa di uscire.

Punti negativi: abbiamo cominciato subito male, una delle due stanze che abbiamo avuto puzzava di fumo ed era stata sanificata in modo approssimativo. alla reception hanno fatto passare oltre due ore prima di cambiare la stanza e quella che ci hanno dato aveva una climatizzazione inadeguata, altra ora di attesa. in pratica un pomeriggio bruciato per attendere che ci sistemassero, quando era sufficiente verificare in anticipo che la stanza puzzava. Nota positiva, il manager della struttura si è personalmente preoccupato di verificare che nella seconda stanza il sistema di climatizzazione fosse stato ripristinato. ulteriore nota negativa, il giorno della partenza il manager ha mandato un sottoposto a chiedere i soldi di quello che stavamo consumando, anche se ancora non avevamo fatto chiuso il conto. (abbiamo una faccia da ladri?). non andate nella zona spa. è piccola e datata una brutta esperienza.

Punti negativi: I request the breakfast to be charged in my room when I paid the first day, but when settled the account in the last day, the breakfast have not been charged causing me an unexpected payment of money. Also, I requested an additional day and the cost of the room was 50% more expensive than previous days.

Punti positivi: The view was amazing , close walking to the sea. The food outstanding very kind staff felt home if it wasn’t for the check out :) . I strongly recommend a relaxing massage with Manuela . A guide for the visit of Porto ( 3 hours) . Don’t forget your swimming suit even in winter they have an indoor swimming pool !

In the display we didn’t have hair conditionner sewing kit and shampoo . Make sure you bring some with you . For the hair dryer the reception can provide a professional one :)

È la scelta migliore per chi vuole essere vicino a delle città d’arte come Porto o Braga ma rimanendo in un piccolo oasi di pace. Altamente consigliato per famiglie con bambini.

Punti positivi: Great ocean view from most of the rooms that have a balcony. Very quiet and calm. Great place to relax thanks to well functioning amenities and services. Direct exit from the hotel to the ocean and beach promenade. Free spacious private parking in front of the hotel. Overall, you will get reasonably priced upper-class hotel. Perfect for relaxation after busy sightseeing day in Porto. Also worth spending a day inside without leaving hotel area.

Punti negativi: If you don't have a car getting to the hotel and back to the Porto will be a problem. Food selection during the breakfast is rather limited, and was the same all days of our stay. Also, don't waste time on nearby village: construction works are ongoing throughout the town, most business are closed, only one descent coffee place and one good restaurant are available.

Punti negativi: Da dove cominciare... il posto è vecchio e malandato e non pulito. La camera era piuttosto maleodorante. La camera 2010 è vicino all'ascensore e rumorosa. Traffico della strada che è rumorosa. Non è assolutamente un 4 stelle, piuttosto è un 2 stelle.

Punti negativi: Abbiamo prenotato una superior al 4 piano vista mare(le foto sul sito ingannano non Corrispondono alla realta forse solo una camera in tutto l hotel potrebbe godere del letto fronte mare,come da foto) e la stanza presentava i seguenti problemi : vetro della doccia non attaccato al piatto doccia con annesso "allagamento" del bagno, bagno senza bidet ( ricordo le 4 stelle) , la porta del bagno in legno non si chiudeva, condizionatore inesistente , vetrata della verandina sporca e rotta ovvero un anta ne si apriva ne si chiudeva, la struttura ( ricordo sempre le 4 stelle) non dotata di rampa disabili all ingresso, quindi le valige tutte tirate su a mano ...vogliamo parlare della famosa "spa"? Una piscinetta al chiuso con adiacente 1 jacuzzi... e a descriverla cosi sembre gia troppo bella! Per finire in bellezza ultimo giorno di permanenza senza corrente elettrica in tutto l hotel per almeno una mattinata intera almeno cosi si pensa perche per fortina il nostro soggiorno è terminato!! Chiaramente senza un caffe senza fattura e senza l ascensore quindi 4 piani fatti a piedi con 3 valige in braccio !! In tutto cio nemmeno una scusa e nemmeno un euro di sconto !!! Sinceramente? Presi in giro !!

Punti negativi: I have mentioned on a mesaage that I would like to pre-order a cake for my husband’s birthday and is a surprise... so on arrival at reception first question after I paid the room was(in front of my husband)” when do you want to bring the cake before or after dinner?” Obviously I tries to pretend that I did not understand the question but my husband knew what is “ the surprise”... anyway that was minor comparing to when changed the towels the cleaners left only one towel in the room and never came back to bring more. The heating wasn’t working and was lots of dust as after first day experience we did not let the cleaners to “clean” the room. But the major problem was the “ SPA” were is too much called spa, first of all the lasy on reception let us changed and than informed us we need to buy from hotel reception if we want to swim head cap, well agree with thet but why all these rules were not advertised before so future clients could make a plan, therefore we said ok we don’t have those can we use the jacuzzi or steam room, obviously they were not working... so basic for a wanna be 4 stars hotel with “spa” I woudn’t give more than 3 for the room and view. Was very dissapointing esspecialy because was a very special occasion in my husband birthday so we wanted the spa... but next time I will take in consideration more previous reviews. Also at breakfast my husband found hair in scrumbled eggs twice...so other big surprise.. for a big birthday. Overall very poor quality for a Golden Tulip Hotel, and please don’t advertise you have spa if ia not working....for 4 days..(our time there)

Punti positivi: The best breakfast I've ever had in any hotel anywhere ! The views from the breakfast room (The Orangerie) are superb; Dick's Bar provides an excellent variety of wines for all budgets and the staff are really knowledgeable about what they serve. Staying at The Yateman is an experience in itself - staying at the hotel is like staying in an art gallery. Staff are friendly - and the whole experience cannot be faulted.

Punti negativi: The only minor gripe - and it's one that applies to hotels worldwide - is that the plugs in the sinks in the bathroom don't stop the water from draining away... meaning that in order to shave properly in the morning, you have to (wastefully) leave the water running. But it's such a minor point, it's hardly worth mentioning.

Punti negativi: capisco che con il concetto di budget l'hotel non mette shampoo in ogni camera. Lo shampoo deve essere disponibile su richiesta o per un euro.

Punti positivi: Being a two star hotel it is very good. Is modern and simplistic, thus having just the necessary for the stay.

Punti positivi: Il letto era confortevole, ci si riposa bene. L'hotel ha delle macchinette a cui ci si può rifornire in caso di necessità. La colazione non è molto varia, ma è buona.

Punti negativi: La struttura è carina. Le stanze sono piccole e strette, ma per quello che le si usa in vacanza vanno bene. Un neo è il wc, incassato in un angolo con la luce a tempo. Inoltre la posizione è buona se si utilizzano i taxi o se ci si muove in auto. Se siete a piedi dovete fare circa 5 km per arrivare in centro e per tornare. Noi li abbiamo fatti, al ritorno è tutto in salita.

Punti negativi: Porta del bagno "cigolante". Nei pressi della struttura ci sono solo altri alberghi, comunque a circa 1km (20 min a piedi) c'è un supermercato/centro commerciale (Continente - molto grande ed economico). Ci sono anche diversi ristoranti (verso il porto) .

Frutta, bottiglia d'acqua, the e caffe, bibite al minibar senza costi aggiuntivi. Colazione ottima con molta scelta tra dolce e salato, pietanze calde e fredde. L'hotel ha un garage chiuso a pagamento per 5 euro al giorno, ma si può parcheggiare gratuitamente all'esterno senza grossi problemi. Probabilmente ritorneremo a Porto e il Mercure sarà la nostra prima scelta.

Punti positivi: Mercure Gaia has been a hotel I stay commonly stay when traveling to Porto, very accessible off and on the highway. Especially since I have a rental when traveling in the country having a parking garage is important (but all plenty of off street parking available) and only a 6 Euro Uber ride into the city.

Punti negativi: The Corridors and the rooms have an awful bad smell. Mercury should do something about urgently, it gives bad image to Gaia and Porto.

Punti negativi: The breakfast options are very limited. I am vegan and I could only eat a bowl of mixed fruit and some chocolate pastries, which I in general avoid as I have diabetes. My friends with a normal diet were also very disappointed in the cold breakfast.. No omelettes, meat options etc, just a few slices of cheese,salami ,ham,boiled eggs and fruit yogurts. The rooms are super small. There are no wardrobes in the rooms. We were jumping over suitcases to get from one side of the bed to the other. No kettle. No iron. Each person got only one towel for use- which meant no special towel for the face and hands. No surface to put away clothes in the bathroom when showering. Plus, the payment process was a problem for us because the hotel apparently takes the money from the credit card before the arrival even though it said "pay at the hotel", but then requests for the card in person to confirm the money withdrawal. For our group of friends, not everyone stayed the same amount of days, and my friends had to pay AGAIN using a different card! All the card details are on booking.com and any kind of transaction is possible without the physical presence of it! We have been traveling each month for the past couple of years and this is the first time this happened! I was staying in Ibis in London and I didn't have this problem.

We've been to Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia before, but we always stayed on the Porto side during previous trips, so it was fun to stay in Gaia this time and have a different perspective. It was a 20-minute walk from the hotel to the river, and the metro was right in front of the hotel if we had wanted to take that instead of walk. El Corte Ingles is right across the street from the hotel if you're interested in shopping or eating there. There is street parking available one street over (pay as you go), as well as Clip Hotel's own hotel parking available for 8€ a day (need to arrange this when you check in). Breakfast was busy but well-stocked. The staff at reception are very friendly and accommodating; it was a pleasure to meet them.

Punti negativi: I asked for gluten-free bread at breakfast, but couldn't have it as it was frozen and they would have needed time to defrost it. I hadn't known that so it was a surprise. So I recommend that if you need gluten-free products, tell reception a day ahead so it can be ready for you the next morning. But overall a great stay.

Punti positivi: Breakfast was good. The bathroom was clean and the shower was nice.

Punti negativi: Very thin walls and they started cleaning around 7 am. You can hear everything. The first room they gave us was not clean. Towels on the floor and the bed was not made. The air conditioning was not powerful enough to make the room warm.

Punti positivi: Posizione comodissima, a 50mt dalla metro con cui si raggiunge il centro di Porto in 10 minuti, vicina a un bel centro commerciale molto grande, vicino a bar e ristoranti. Nonostante la strada sia trafficata, non si è disturbati dal rumore del traffico (stanza al 7 piano). Personale molto gentile e disponibile per informazioni e qualunque necessità. Colazione abbondante e varia. Pulizia e comodità della stanza ottime.

Punti negativi: Solo il phon perché è regolato su un'unica temperatura troppo alta e mi ha bruciato i capelli.

Punti negativi: Letto matrimoniale piccolo, un po’ rumorose le camere ( non perfettamente insonorizzate)

Punti positivi: Really nice hostel with a cozy common room, cozy and clean bedroom with a balcony offering a nice view of Porto on the side. The hostel is run by a super nice family, making you feel at home, giving us tips and serving yummy breakfast. The hostel is a walking distance from the next metro or to the riverside of Gaia. Absolutely worth the money!

Punti positivi: Struttura carina e accogliente, situata nella zona delle cantine molto vicina al ponte che conduce al centro. Il proprietario è stato molto gentile disponibile e ci ha dato molti interessanti consigli su come visitare la città. Ci siamo trovati molto bene. La consiglio vivamente.

Punti positivi: Il Gaia Porto Hostel è una bella struttura nel quartiere Vila Nova de Gaia, a pochi minuti a piedi dalle cantine del Porto. Le stanze sono confortevoli e gli spazi comuni godibili, incluso un giardino pensile a terrazze su tre livelli molto piacevole durante la bella stagione. Anima della struttura è Joao, il proprietario, sempre disponibilissimo a fornirvi indicazioni utili per visitare la città e molto simpatico. La colazione si svolge ad un grande tavolo comune, che Joao anima con piacevoli conversazioni con i suoi avventori. La cortesia di tutto lo staff e l’ambiente a conduzione famigliare vi faranno davvero sentire a casa. Consigliatissimo.

Punti positivi: Il posto è molto carino e arredato con gusto. Il gestore è molto simpatico e chiacchiera volentieri con gli ospiti soprattutto al mattino quando si fa colazione tutti insieme attorno ad un tavolo (colazione ottima e abbondante!). E' molto disponibile anche a dare informazioni utili sui luoghi da visitare e su come raggiungerli. Non è facilissimo trovarlo... Se dovessi ritornare a Porto ci tornerei!

Punti positivi: Very nice, clean, comfortable and cosy accomodation with beautiful view from the terrace and perfect position for any sightseeing. We also liked the host's friendly attitude and advices for what to see or where to go.

Colazione super. Posizione centrale e proprietari disponibili a regalare consigli e offrire aiuto per raggiungere l'aeroporto nelle ore più improbabili. Consigliatissimo!

Punti positivi: The owner Joao was very friendly and helpful! Everything was clean and tidy. We were very happy with the shuttle taking us to the hostel and back to the airport. It was good value for money. Thank you Joao and happy birthday to your son!

Punti negativi: There was no one working on site so we had trouble gaining entrance to the hotel. It was a huge disappointment that there was no elevator. We were on the 3rd floor & my 81 year old husband had to figure out how to get luggage up 3 flights of stairs - fortunately a friend helped. If this info was in the online site, we missed it - shame on us. But that information should be marked more prominently.

Punti positivi: This small guesthouse was excellent in so many ways. Fantastic location -- close to riverfront, numerous port wine cellars and tours, restaurants, and shops. Friendly, helpful staff made me feel at home the moment I walked in the door. Loved my room -- bright, nicely updated, very comfortable bed...and a big shower with space to move around, a real plus for larger people! Air conditioning was a welcome treat, and wifi worked like a charm. It all felt like luxury to me, but at a very reasonable price.

Punti negativi: Stairs were loud and I heard everyone going up and coming down, could have used some carpeting. Plenty of fresh clean towels, but I would like to have had a washcloth.

Punti positivi: Brothers Yousef and Othman did everything they can to make us feel at home. They had my shoe repaired for free. They organized our transfers to and from station. Excellent breakfast.

Punti positivi: Close to port cellars, restaurant and easy walk to Porto. Room was clean and nice. Contact took the time to recommend siteseeing highlights, great restaurants (we tried 2 and were both great), cellar tours and how to get to the airport.

Punti negativi: We had confirmed there was an early check in between 8-9am. We got there at 8:50 and got in 15-20 minutes later via another guest opening the door. After several calls a person finally came at 11:00. We could have made other arrangements if we hadn’t gotten the early checkin confirmation and not wasted 2 hours of our time. Once the person came everything went smoothly.

Punti positivi: The location is excelent, less than 100m away from the river. and close to a lot of restaurants, bars and the famous Port Wine cellars. There is a parking lot nearby that you can book upfront to leave your car for several days if you need (around 12€ per day). Oporto is just a bridge crossing away. Well decorated and with a confortable room, with a lot of natural light. It didn't have a buffet breakfast, but it was cattered by a local bakery/pastry and the products were very good and fresh.

Punti negativi: No elevator, so we needed to carry our bags through the stairs up to the forth floor. The coffee machine was not easy to operate and it jammed frequently. There were two space heaters in the lobby/breakfast room, but they only worked in the first day (and it was chilly). The toilletries were scarce and they came in little individual pouches, making it hard to use.

Punti positivi: CAMERA MOLTO ACCOGLIENTE - è mancata un pò di attenzione ai dettagli: un giorno ci hanno fornito un asciugamano in meno e l'altro giorno mancava il bagno schiuma. POSIZIONE dell'hotel ottima perchè lontana dalla zona più turistica e affollata; zona silenziosa di notte.

Punti negativi: Poichè il nostro arrivo era previsto oltre l'orario di reception, abbiamo dovuto mandare diverse mails e poi alla fine, a poche ore dalla nostra partenza dall'Italia, abbiamo dovuto chiamare direttamente l'hotel per avere le istruzioni di accesso, in assenza del servizio reception.

Punti negativi: Bella la struttura moderna ma 3 piani di scale senza ascensore si sentono e il bagno dietro ad una vetrata lo consiglio solo a coppie veramente affiatate!!
