Punti positivi: The view was amazing, which was the main reason we decided to stay at the hotel for one night. Staff were super friendly. Breakfast was nice. Not many people so we enjoyed the quietness. Water pressure was very good. The interior was unique and beautiful. Exterior is superb as well. Location is great; only a few minutes walk from the escalator. The balcony was spacious with a table and chairs.

Punti negativi: No free water. Some ants in the bathroom. Green gate to the Santa Luzia Sanctuary was closed on our departure day, so we had to jump off the stone fence. There weren't too many electric sockets in the room.

Ottima, ricca e variata colazione continentale con diversi prodotti locali. Personale professionale e accogliente. Gradito l'upgrade della camera con vista sull'oceano. Molto buona anche la cena.

Punti negativi: L'unico vero dettaglio negativo: il rubinetto del lavandino. Si vede che è stato cambiato di recente ma.... assolutamente troppo piccolo! Il getto d'acqua è a soli 2cm dal bordo, rendendo scomode se non impossibili le operazioni.

Punti positivi: The young lady on the reception desk was very friendly and welcoming and helpful in suggesting places to visit during our stay. The room was clean, simply furnished and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was also very adequate. Free public parking is available a short distance away but this needs to be timed for late afternoon. There is also a nearer underground car park.

Punti negativi: Suggest that it is not worth paying more for a room with a river view as one has to strain the neck to see it. Our room with the supposed river view also incurred a lot of traffic noise.

Punti positivi: It’s a boutique hotel, very quiet, it doesn’t have the constant noise of air conditioning and ventilation that big hotels have. Good taste in decoration, what you need without being too much. For longer stays the suits are a better option once the rooms are not big. The location is perfect. The restaurant is a warm place, where you can relax and they just take of you with wonderful food and wine. And best thing is of course the staff! Warm and wanting to make you feel at home (I have to say Helena is top!).

Punti positivi: Ho festeggiato il mio secondo anniversario di matrimonio ed è stato tutto perfetto!! Avevo chiesto che mi portassero in camera al nostro arrivo in hotel frutta cioccolato e prosecco e sono stati impeccabili, staff super gentile e disponibile. Sorpresa riuscita! La cena poi molto buona e particolare ( molti piatti salati sono abbinati con il cioccolato). Per non parlare del cioccolato, buonissimo... Potrei parlare ancora di molto altro, ma in conclusione dico che è stato davvero un super soggiorno in un piccolo angolo di paradiso del cioccolato!

As a pilgrim on the camino, it was wonderful to find the hotel actually on the route! Your stay includes a visit to the chocolate museum and a drink from the café. I had a chocolate cocktail!

It is directly on the Camino and easy to find. Big room and bigger bed!! Spacious shower a d immaculate bathroom. Chocolate everywhere..including the room fragrance..great fun. Breakfast was superb and all good quality . 10/10 is not enough!!!❤️

Punti negativi: Mi aspettavo qualcosa di più dalla colazione. La vista dalle mie camere interne sul retro dell'hotel è un po' triste. Il museo del cioccolato presente al piano interrato dell'hotel è fruibile gratuitamente dagli ospiti ma l'ho trovato troppo "finto" non spenderei 1 euro per visitarlo.

Punti positivi: This a classic manor house built in 1509. Updated?! For sure. We had a traditional room, large, four poster bed, lots of windows. Young staff was enthusiastic and friendly. Told us of a very goos tapas place 30 seconds from the hotel door. They gave us an upgrade to a deluxe room.

Good breakfast. Evening meal in restaurant was more than I would normally pay, but the food and service were excellent.

Punti positivi: The accommodation is in a very good location in the old centre but in a quiet street, it's also quite close to the train- and busstation. The owner and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Allthough the breakfast wasn't big, the quality was really good, everything was very fresh and tasty. I also had a light meal in the restaurant that belongs to the accommodation and what I ordered was also good quality!

Punti positivi: The location was definitely the best part of this hotel - it is a quick walk from the train station (which is in a lovely part of town itself) and located within the bounds of the medieval center of town. There are lots of sights, museums, and restaurants in the area. It's about a 20-minute walk to Praia Norte, but it's an easy walk so we didn't mind. The table service during breakfast was also very nice - felt like being waited on in a restaurant!

The location was good for visiting various places. We left the car at the hotel secure car park and travelled by train to Porto and Viana do Castell. The small stion is five minutes walk from the hotel, with very helpful staff.

The hotel has a lot of stairs everywhere -inside and out (also to the pool) - but no railings to hold on to, which was a problem for my mother. On the webpage it says that its handicap friendly. This is really not true, eventhough the host was kind to change my parents room to one on the ground floor.

Punti positivi: Everything! The cleanliness, the hospitality, the owner Bladimere was most accommodating as I was very tired and asked if I could check in early. the beds and sheets were high quality and soooo comfortable.

Punti negativi: It would have been nice if the hotel offered even a small simple array of evening foods and room service, just for the those of us too tired to go out for dinner, however the owner suggested several near by restaurants that offered take-away such as Restaurante Diplomatico where I picked up the most delicious food.

Abbiamo potuto lasciare gli zaini in deposito e mi hanno asciugato e piegato la biancheria ancora umida (avevo chiesto solo di poterla appendere fuori).

Punti positivi: Proprietario e staff gentilissimi. Struttura un po' datata ma ben tenuta e pulitissima. Camera grande e letto comodissimo. Colazione con non tantissima scelta ma di ottima qualità.

Punti positivi: L'ottima gentilezza di chi ci ha accolto ( sig. Giovanni) e la posizione molto buona dell'albergo vicino alle cose più importanti ( musei, chiese, porto, centro commerciale)

Punti negativi: Il letto della camera non era pulito come dovrebbe ( abbiamo trovato capelli anche sotto il cuscino). La stanza era molto piccola ( a livello di Ibis) e poco comoda anche per i bagagli che, in parte abbiamo dovuto posizionare a terra. Un'altra brutta nota va data alla colazione di qualità molto bassa ( i crackers e le fette biscottate sul tavolo erano proprio vecchi; non c'era un croissant; le fettine povere di salato di bassa qualità). C'era una buona varietà di frutta ma abbiamo rinunziato. Dispiace dare questo commento negativo perchè le persone in servizio nella saletta delle colazioni erano molto gentili e premurose.

Punti positivi: The Quinta is set in beautiful gardens with a lovely swimming pool, fountains, and places to relax. Our ‘casa’ was luxurious and had every convenience.

Punti negativi: Absolutely nothing. You’re best to have a car in this area of Portugal but we managed 3 days without one. It’s short bus or taxi to Viana. Breakfast was delicious each morning, although perhaps a slightly earlier start than 9am. But you get into the relaxing swing of things.

Punti positivi: HIGHLY RECOMMEND this property! Lovely grounds, helpful and friendly staff, comfortable and spacious room, fun pool table and relaxing area. It is close to the beach, close to small towns nearby, and Kira the black lab is extremely friendly and welcoming.

Punti negativi: The only complaint we have for the entire stay was the beds were very firm, but the rest of the property makes up for it.

Punti positivi: The hostess’s welcome is kind and VERY (too?) detailed, but a tad too directive and overbearing. At times it makes you feel like a little child who needs to be taught house rules. Too much content is imparted upon you, whether you find it useful or need it at all in the first place. The room we had was a “suite” and thus featured a little anteroom with a kitchenette hidden in a large closet. The bedroom itself was nice, spacious and well appointed, although in that category, the bed could have been at least queen size —and wasn’t. The real downside is that there was NO WINDOW! The walk-in door was glass but needed to be curtained against the heat of the blazing afternoon sun (and the passing other guests!), and there was a minuscule vasistas around the walkway to the bathroom, but no window at all in the bedroom itself, which made it cavernous and claustrophobic. The room was not in the main building. Not one free power wall socket in sight! Don’t those hoteliers know that their guests have smartphones, tablets, cameras, portable computers, and all manners of assorted electrical appliances that need regular recharging? I had to unplug a lamp in the anteroom to recharge our things. No air conditioning, except for a very small unit in the bathroom, useless to cool the bedroom. The only appliance available was one of those column-type fans that worked more or less OK, except that it was on a 2-hour timer that forced me to get up several times during the night to get it started again! Unacceptable in that price range. The WiFi worked... until it went down, and couldn’t be restarted until the morning. You must avoid this place if you depend on a fast WiFi connection, for example for work purposes. (Read rest of review below)

Punti negativi: The bathroom was good and in general well provided, but there are no red and blue markings on the taps, so you don’t know which way is hot and you’re kept wondering for quite a while as hot water takes that long to come on... Shower products are in quantities adequate, yet not overly generous, but strangely only shampoo and a strange little plastic bottle labeled “body lotion”... but no obvious shower gel in sight! Had to use an old one taken from previous hotel. Finally, the breakfast is good but nothing to really write home about as the hostess seemed to think: for example, no smoked salmon or other fish, eggs scrambled but not otherwise cooked, etc. AND you cannot have it before 9am, which is again unacceptable for an establishment in that price range: not all guests are on vacation, and even those who are may need to have an early start now and then! One last word to the wise: hotel owners and managers sometimes reply to guest advice and critique, and sometimes quite sharply. Remember then that I have no vested interest in saying good or not so good things about the places I stay at, while owners and managers do have a vested interest in selling you theirs products and services...

Punti positivi: La Signora e suo figlio sono estremamente gentili e mantengono questa villa di campagna, con un bel terreno intorno, in modo magnifico. L'area della piscina è splendida, con un grande e bellissimo prato circostante. La colazione abbastanza ricca e varia. Ci si trova a qualche km da Viana ma fare attenzione perchè inserendo l'indirizzo su google maps, venivamo dirottati altrove.

Punti positivi: Casa padronale e relativa tenuta veramente belle : la colazione, servita nelle varie sale della casa, è straordinaria: dall’apparecchiatura della tavola, con tanto di fiori freschi segnaposto, alla qualità dei prodotti serviti è davvero sorprendente. I proprietari sono di una gentilezza estrema, pronti a soddisfare ogni richiesta: da tornarci sicuramente.

Punti positivi: I have stopped at many different hotels over the last thirty years, I can honestly say this was the BEST experience I have ever had. The hospitality and personal touch shown by Rosa and her son Alberto went way beyond what one would expect. The grounds of the former farmhouse including the orange grove and the beautiful flowers provide a perfect welcome, then you have Rosa's home cooking, a breakfast from heaven all hand crafted by Rosa, with the freshly squeezed orange, meats and cheeses, home baked cake/tart, fresh fruit, all presented to 5 star quality. The rooms are immaculate, and outdoor the swimming pool was a welcome shield from the sun. Despite our requirement for a 5.30am departure on our final day, Rosa and Alberta were up to provide us with our full breakfast. Location wise, a 6km jaunt from the impressive Viana do Castello, where a visit to the 'Primavera Restaurant' is a must for lunch.

The breakfasts were delicious with eggs , meats, cheeses, great breads, fresh juice. Dona Rosa and her son were more than gratitude hosts. I felt as if I was visiting family. Loved it!

Punti positivi: A lovely old style house with comfortable rooms, gardenand orchards and a good sized pool. Our hosts could not have been kinder making us very welcome with lovely eat treats and a great breakfast. We had to leave very early to catch a plane and they provided a packed breakfast for us to take. This is a veritable oasis in the outer reaches of the town with good road access in all directions and a 10 -15 minute drive to the beach, and town. There is a restaurant/ bar serving food and 2 large supermarkets within a 5 minute walk.

Punti negativi: The location is fine if you have a car and are happy to drive mostly everywhere including further up the valley for some peaceful walks but there is nowhere for pleasant evening strolls directly from the house.

Punti positivi: Camera non grandissima ma veramente bella con pareti in pietra, all'interno di una villa con parco e piscina tenuti benissimo. Colazione abbondante e ottima in una sala molto elegante. Parcheggio privato disponibile. Il centro è a circa 15-20 minuti a piedi, ma ci si può avvicinare anche in macchina, ci sono molti parcheggi. Buon punto di partenza per esplorare le spiagge della costa, avendo una macchina a disposizione.

Punti positivi: Unique experience really. We stayed in the apartment #1 for the family for 4-5 people. It was beyond our expectation - great atmosphere, spacious and very, very comfortable. The adjacent territory of this accommodation is amazing - impressive landscaping, parking insight. This place clearly has historic heritage! If you travel by a car with family, this is the best choice ever - at least it was for us. Very friendly personnel. Lastly - breakfast! Not Sofitel range of choices but everything was delicious and fresh. Great serving of the tables. If we are ever around, we will definitely select this location.

Punti positivi: Il luogo in cui era situato l'hotel era incantevole in quanto immerso nel verde e sembrava di essere fuori dal mondo da quanto era tranquillo. Pochi ospiti e piscina e parco tutto a nostra disposizione.

Punti negativi: Peccato che la colazione fosse servita solo dalle 09.00 alle 10.00. Noi volevamo visitare un po' i dintorni ma era sempre un po' tardi per partire. L'ultimo giorno partivamo presto per l'aeroporto e ci era stato detto che ci avrebbero preparato uno spuntino da prendere con noi, ma non abbiamo ricevuto niente! Peccato.

Punti positivi: It's a very beautiful and quiet setting, the bed is probably one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in.

Punti negativi: The breakfast was good, but small quantity. If you happen to not like one of the items then you'll be hungry. Exzample, 2 very thin slices of cheese per person, one thin slice of ham and 1 small slice of marmalade. If you do'nt like any of these items (I don't like ham) so I was stuck with 2 minute slices of cheese and a tiny bit of marmalade. While we were there the internet did not work at any time, and the tv didn't work either, so it wasn't very possible to just chill out to watch a film in the end of a sightseeing day. We requested if there were some dvds we could watch but the only solution we were given was to hang out on the common room. We had taken a weekend to hang out with each other and chill so it wasn't an option for us. On the last day, there was no electricity in our flat, so we couldn't shower. When checking the lectrical board it became apparent that the wiring was old and it seemed a bit unsafe. None of these things are the end of the world, but for the price they charge, I would expect a little bit more professionalism.

The breakfast gets to your door every morning, also option for vegetarians. The house is cleaned properly every day. Big thanks to Gabriel and Katherine for their hospitality. Punti positivi: I had stayed on the property several years ago as a couple and this time around we brought our 7 and 5 year old daughter and son. It is a perfect spot, with plenty of stunningly tendered grounds for kids and grownups to walk, with very well kept and cost houses and apartments. You feel in an absolute countryside escape, and still at most 30 mom drive from several great spots: Viana do Castelo, ponte de lima, ponte da barca, Barcelos, Gerês just to name a few. Great welcome by Gabriel and Joao (the owner), good breakfast with local produce, and all at a very reasonable price. Will definitely recommend this property!

Very convenient for Viana but we preferred using the bikes to explore the fantastic beaches along this stretch of coast using the scenic trail. The kitchen out-building is very useful for those not wanting to drive to a restaurant, just stock up on food from the local shop, open the wine and eat in the garden beside the pool. The breakfast is legendary.

The breakfast was amazing, with freshly prepared and locally grown fruit, homemade jams, eggs if wanted, fresh coffee, it was just great. The building is beautiful. As we travelled in October we didn't use the pool due to the weather but we will definitely return in the future, the pool and outside area were beautifully kept, with a bbq area and a kitchen for guests to use. It is in a quiet location but within easy reach of the beach and Viana de Castelo which has shops and historic places to visit.
