Location is nice, short walk from lovely Babbacombe. Female assistant manager very helpful and customer focussed.
Worst break I can recall, very disappointed. Tried to speak to the general manager early on about our disappointment who was dismissive but said he’d ‘sort’ everything and discuss an adjustment to the bill at the end of the stay. Despite his abrupt manner we thought that would be ok. Night 1 - sash windows rattled loudly all night (disturbed sleep) next day cleaner left windows open all day - wind and rain meant the room was freezing on our return at 6.30pm. Night 2 - freezing cold, not enough blankets. Night 3 - fire alarm just after 3am. No idea why and no explanation or apology. Carpet in room was filthy. The hotel is dog friendly which is one of the reasons we booked but the carpet was full of stains. The room was ‘ok’ but tired and dirty in places. The anti slip mat was dirty. We returned back to the room mid clean to find that the cleaner had moved our toothbrushes to clean the sink and put them on the toilet!! Items were not replenished in the room (toilet roll, plastic drinking cups, toiletries). At check out I tried to speak to the general manager again. He was incredibly rude and rather aggressive. He spoke ‘through’ the assistant manager to begin with by telling her he’d dealt with it and did not make eye contact with me at all. He seemed completely dismissive and unaffected by the fact we’d had such a disappointing stay. He went on to offer £50 back and said ‘take it or leave it’. I asked where the figure of £50 had come from. He said it wouldn’t be more because he’d be set to lose a lot of money. I pointed out that we, as a family paying over £450 for a poor 4 night stay, had lost a lot of money. I said I’d got photographs of the room and the toothbrushes on the toilet and went to show him on my phone. Before I could do that, he shouted ‘don’t blackmail me madam’ and repeated that it was an offer of £50, take it or leave it. His manner and attitude was absolutely disgraceful. Worst customer service I have ever experienced.
