Best known for its antique shops, Red Bank was founded in the mid-19th century and named for the red clay banks of the Navesink River. In addition to a wide range of antique stores, Red Bank offers gourmet restaurants, coffee shops and bars, as well as a full calendar of live music events. The entire town can be visited on foot, making it an easy and pleasant day trip from New York especially since its historic railroad station, which also serves as a visitor center, is right in the town center. Murals, painted onto the walls of many of the town's buildings, are an added attraction for pedestrians. From antique stores to street fairs, music festivals, and holiday parades, Red Bank provides attractions for visitors of any age.
